Here are some of the books I recommend and why

Some of you who know me knows that Barbara Brown Taylor is one of my favorite authors. She has a way of touching the hearts with her words. She writes from a very real viewpoint. So, I'd like to salute her and some of her best work.

Leaving Church: A Memoir of Faith - I highly recommend that you get this book and read it. I love her writing style. She discusses some things that any Christian from any country needs to be familiar with and to see the faith that is obvious on every page.
When God is Silent - an oldie but goodie; this book helps to build faith. It is not simply a book to go off and borrow to read. This is a book that should be owned by every Christian everywhere. It was one of those I can say picked me up when my faith was at an all-time low.
Bread of Angels - another older book, but definitely worth a mention. Don't miss the chance to experience this inspirational book.
Speaking of Sin - ever wondered why some preachers act like to sin is the end of the world? Or have you ever wanted to be sin-free? Have you ever condemned yourself because of your own concept of sin? Get this book!
All of Barbara Brown Taylor's books may be found at bookstores everywhere.
Honorable Mentions
Why Monkeys Are Monkeys and People Are People: The Case Against Dawkins, Hitchens and Hawking by John Schroeder - if you have children, please get a copy of this book and study it together as a family. Evolution is one of the worst injustices the school system ever perpetrated upon our children.
If We're So In Love, Why Aren't We Happy by Susan Page - the principles she uses in this book to show couples how to work through differences are priceless. We must be governed by spiritual principles in every aspect of our lives. Bravo! Bravo!
The Rape of Innocence: Taking Captivity Captive by Lacresha Hayes - this is one of those books. Those who know me know what I mean. I actually paused while writing this review for about 10 minutes after the last sentence. My wife cried as she read and then around 3 am, she was praising God and laughing. That made me go on and read the book for myself. I believe that this is a book we will hear about for years and years to come. Facing sexual and domestic abuse is hard and people need help in that area. So, if you have been or know someone who has been raped, molested, abused, abandoned, suicidal, etc, buy this book for them!
